Being an overly excessive hoarder of beauty products, it’s always a challenge to narrow it down to my ride or die, can’t live with out, all time favourites. I’m constantly trying out new things, falling in love with new techniques, and to be quite honest I get bored of using the same thing very quickly.
It wasn’t until I had to start packing up my apartment and store 90% of my makeup in boxes that I came to the realization of what I currently can’t live without! I decided to only keep on hand what I absolutely needed to make the move easier. Trust me, I debated to keep all my makeup unpacked “because I just need it”, but once I realized I needed over 3 moving boxes to hold it all, the facts won against my desires.
I decided to stick to the basics. This meant makeup that could be worn everyday but makeup that could also be played up incase I actually needed to leave my house and not sit in my pajamas and drink tea all day.

I wanted a foundation that was versatile in the way that I could apply a light layer that would give me a healthy glow but could also be built up for full coverage. Since I’m obsessed with dewy skin, (which you can tell if you’ve read my post on highlighters) I decided to settle with my Benefit Cosmetics Hello Flawless’ Oxygen Wow Liquid Foundation. This foundation is perfect because it has SPF 25, it is light on the face, but also lasts all night.
I decided I wanted to stick with something light, as a full coverage concealer wasn’t something I wanted to smother on my face for the next few days. I instantly reached for my Josie Maran Argan Creamy Concealer Crayon in “Fair 1”. Even though this is technically a full coverage concealer stick, it blends in so smoothly that it feels light as air.
Kat Von D Shade + Light Powder Contour Palette. Enough Said.
The Lise Watier Bronzing Powder in “Havana” is recently new to my collection, but it has taken up a great space in my makeup-crazed heart. It’s a natural finish bronzer that gives you just enough glow.
Recently I’ve been obsessing over my MAC Cosmetics Mineralized Skin Finish in “Soft & Gentle”. I’m not going to lie, it’s pretty intense, but that’s completely fine by me.
Since I’ve been spending the past week packing and not much else, a full eye look isn’t necessary. Although it’s killing me not to play around with new colours and looks and share them online, I had to grin and bear it for the time being. I’ve been doing a simple eye by blending a light brown into the crease of my eye and popping on some falsies. It’s really nothing special, but I’m kind of digging how minimalistic it is. Lashes are of course my Dodo Lashes in style D201.
Okay, so maybe these aren’t my all-time favourite, can’t live without, ride or die makeup products, but they are what work best for me right now. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to settle down to just a few products and be content. For me, makeup is about constant exploration and creativity. I’m constantly drawn towards new products, which instantly begins a whirlwind of inspiration of what I want to create. Maybe it’s crazy to have so much passion for something so little, but makeup is what gives me a sense of inventiveness, and never allows me to be bored.
I hope this gave you a little insight of what I currently love, and remember if it keeps you healthy and happy, it can’t be that bad, right?
